Thermal analysis includes various techniques (i) Thermo Mechanical Analysis (TMA), (ii) Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), (iii) Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), and (iv) Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). By using one of these techniques, the physical and chemical properties of the sample are determined as a function of temperature or time, while the sample is subjected to a controlled temperature program. The program may involve heating or cooling (dynamic), or holding the temperature constant (isothermal), or any combination of these. The measurements of thermal analyses can be done in a flow of different gases.
